Tha first 3 months of the year are taken up with Junior Pennant and encourage Shield games.

Junior Pennants is a scratch matchplay/ non handicap event generally with six players per team.

Encourage Shield is meant to be just that, to encourage children into the pennant golf series. Encourage shield is a handicap matchplay event. for the golf clubs these events are a big deal as they are recognized as the pennant holders for 12 months. Not really any different to winning the football or soccer grand final.

 

It's interesting to see all of our juniors develop and especially the juniors through Junior Golf Australia. Like the institute of sport we also have our own team/s of players that play for Fairbairn golf course in the Australian Capital Territory and following are the current results for our pennant season.

 

In ACT currently there are a few combined teams, these are teams that cannot field a full team of their own. This is a good thing as it still allows juniors to participate if they dont have enough players at their home club.

 

Six players can earn 1 point each for a win and half a point for a squared match
